Holstenwall, Kansas. 1935.
It’s a dark time for the American midwest. Massive dust storms stalk the land, turning crops and homes into empires of dirt. Farmers are going bankrupt, and it’s all Clovis and his family can do to keep things afloat. They fear for their lives.
When oldest son Charlie goes to fetch water from a neighboring farm, he stumbles upon a sinister secret — and it seems to have taken hold of the crows, the hogs, and the earth itself.
